As many of you will know, someone I and many other people knew called Jamie passed away after a mountain bike accident he had yesterday. Now I'm not going to pretend I knew him well because I didn't, I knew him as more of an acquaintance that I spoke to once or twice and not much beyond that. This has got me thinking really hard though, since I still feel really affected by it regardless and it's so surreal.
I never knew him personally, but from what I know of him he was a really nice person, geeky (aren't we all :D), and didn't do anything to anyone. He was 17, and he didn't do anything to anyone. It's just tragic and I can't get my head round it.
But something made me smile, and I'll just show you a friend's status. Just one of many:
27 people plus the girl herself. Showing their respect to this one person. That's just one status of many where MANY many people have shown they care, whether they know him personally, know him slightly or not know him at all. That's fucking incredible. So many people care for him. Everyone wishes to be remembered and missed when they're gone, and Jamie will definitely do both of them, and it makes me unbelievably happy. That's how he'll be remembered by everyone, as someone who was himself in the face of anyone, and a good person.
If I hope for anything, it's that somehow he knows that people miss him. Give him that. Please.
RIP dude.
